Publication Ethic
The Journal of Islamic Youth is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. All parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to follow ethical responsibilities in accordance with COPE guidelines.
1. Duties of Editors
-
Fair Play: Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, or political views.
-
Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher.
-
Decision Making: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published, based on the reviewers’ evaluation and the journal’s editorial policies.
-
Conflict of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished information in their own research without the author’s explicit consent.
2. Duties of Reviewers
-
Confidentiality: All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with others.
-
Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with constructive and clear feedback. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
-
Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors.
-
Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not review manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors.
3. Duties of Authors
-
Originality: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. Plagiarism in any form is unethical and unacceptable.
-
Acknowledgement of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.
-
Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All those who made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.
-
Multiple or Redundant Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
-
Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that could be interpreted to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
-
Errors in Published Work: If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor to retract or correct the paper.
4. Duties of the Publisher
-
The publisher ensures that the publishing system is free from commercial interests that may compromise editorial decisions.
-
The publisher is committed to working closely with editors, reviewers, and authors to maintain academic integrity and ethical standards.
